Color-themed Gift Basket

If you are ever stumped on what go get someone for their birthday what about this?! I recently just made one for my friend, as you can probably tell, her favorite color is green. We just became really close friends and I wanted to get her something but didn't quite know her well enough to get her something personal (if that makes sense?). I thought about making her a gift basket but I had never made one before so was puzzled on what the theme should be... but then thought "what about a color themed one?". So VOILA here we are. I actually had a lot of fun finding things for this basket and another cool thing about this is that it was pretty cheap! The total cost was about $30! The most expensive thing I bought was the basket which came out to be like 5 dollars. So it depends on what you are willing to buy, because lots of little things can add up.

So for this project I started out with just a $5 coiled basket at Walmart... actually I got everything at Walmart. This was the most expensive thing individually in the whole gift. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but it turned out to do the job perfectly! I also loved that it came with handles that I could wrap some fun ribon around!

The basket alone, I thought, looked a little plain. So I decided to add this funky neon green/tie-dye fabric I got for like $1.50. I then layered it with a different shade of green tissue paper, just to add something. I was originally going to put white tissue paper over it because I thought it would be way too much green (even though that was the point), but I couldn't find any, so I just went with the green.

  • water bottle

  • peace tea

  • loofa

  • picture frame

  • life savers

  • fruit gum

  • skittles

  • mike and ikes

  • ice breakers

  • juicy drop

  • chistmas ornaments

  • clay mask

  • nail polish

  • baby lips!

Here are the things that I put in the basket. I mean there is a picture for you to see everything layed out but here's a list because for whatever reason you never know...!

So I have to share this with you!! The thing I am most excited to put in this basket is BABY LIPS! I see everyone with them, so it must be a new trend or something but when I saw they had a green flavor I was stoked!! I made sure to put it in the front and this by far was the item I was most excited about!

So I felt the need to add some sparkles because as you know "all that glitters is gold!" It's November, so all the Christmas stuff has started coming out. I found (well with the gracious help of mi madre) these green sparkle ornaments. I tried to be sure that they didn't look Christmasy, but I don't think they do! I just thought they added a cute touch to the gift.

I also bought a wooden T which I painted green and added some polka dots... and a clear, glitter topcoat. I thought this personalized the gift! I liked it hidden off on the side like I put it!

Once you arranged everything all nice and everything, I found this little GREEN Happy Birthday card which I just signed and wrote a little note! And where the handles were, I had this thick green and white polka dot ribbon which I just tied a bow around. I thought the ribbon was too cute!

I mean that's it! It's like one of the easier things ever... and plus it's super cute. I would love to get one of these for my birthday! I think the finishing product turned out great and if you try it I'm sure yours will too! :)
